Menorca Information

Here is some general information which you might find useful when on holiday in Menorca. Remember to add 00 34 if calling from a UK mobile.

Emergency telephone number (equivalent of UK 999) is 112 – in Menorca it is free and you can call 24 hours a day for Police, Fire or Ambulance. English and German are spoken as well as Spainish. Police 092, Ambulance only 061, Fire Service Mahon 971351011, Ciutadella 971380809.

The Red Cross will supply appliances such as wheelchairs, walking frames, crutches ect for a small charge. Menorca Gold will be ahppy to make any necessary arrangements for you.

Chemists Indicated with a Green Cross outside, called Famacias. Most are closed at weekends, but one will be open in each town.

Shopping hours Are 09.00 – 13.30, then closed for siesta and reopen around 16.30 – 20.30 larger supermarkets are often open all day and some on Sunday mornings too.

Banks are usually open 09.00 – 14.00, but there are ATMS in most resorts. As well as Euros, euro cheques and credit cards are usually accepted throughout the island.
